Jamaica has received medical supplies and equipment from the Japanese government, under the Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) programme, to support the country’s response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The items, which include mobile x-ray units , x-ray protective panels, ultrasound scanners, bedside monitors and defibrillators, were handed over during a virtual ceremony on March 2, at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).

US Embassy Hands Over Tents and Other Items to St. Thomas Health Services

Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton (left); Indian High Commissioner to Jamaica, His Excellency Ambassador Masakui Rungsung and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, holding samples of pharmaceutical medicines and supplies donated by the Government of the Republic of India to assist with the local COVID-19 response. The supplies are valued at approximately $13.5 million. The official handover ceremony was held at the Ministry of Health and Wellness, New Kingston, on Friday (February 26).
