Governor-General, His Excellency, the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen, prepares to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph at National Heroes Park, honouring Jamaicans killed in World Wars I and II, during the Remembrance Day ceremony on Wednesday (November 11). Remembrance Day, also known as Armistice Day or Poppy Day, is observed on the second Sunday in November, and the primary purpose is to pay homage to those who gave their service and, ultimately, their lives in the two great wars.

Dr. Burke is Executive Director of Mona Social Services, University of the West Indies (UWI). The Anthony N. Sabga Caribbean Awards for Excellence recognises significant Caribbean achievement and seeks to encourage and support the pursuit of excellence by Caribbean persons for the benefit of the region.
