Sandals Jamaica hosts Upcycling Workshop

Sharing the Love | July 22, 2019
Waste build up can have a negative impact on the environment and the beauty of a community. To ensure this does not happen, The Sandals foundation in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) decided to introduce the Solid Waste Reduction project in the Whitehouse and Bluefields communities in Westmoreland. This project, which has been taking place over the last 14 months, introduced waste separation, plastic bottle recycling, community composting to community members. Although the project has been reaping success, it created another problem. What do you do with all the waste collected? While trying to figure out a solution, participants found the perfect solution – upcycling.
