Government Opening Water Shop Initiative in St Elizabeth

Residents of St. Elizabeth have joined others in neighbouring parishes Manchester and Clarendon in benefitting from the Government’s Water Shop Initiative. The project involves the installation of water tanks in communities with severe water challenges. The tanks are then regularly serviced by water trucks and maintained by the municipal corporations in partnership with residents. Two new facilities were commissioned in Top Hill and Retirement District in Malvern.

A modern, green children’s hospital is coming to the Western end of the island. The first in the English Speaking Caribbean, the facility will provide specialist pediatric care for persons up to 18 years of age. The Western Children and Adolescents Hospital is a gift from the People’s Republic of China and will be situated on the grounds of the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James.
