Ministry Promotes Healthy Gender Relations

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Denzil Thorpe (left), greets Director for the Institute of Gender and Development Studies, Professor Opal Palmer Adisa, at the International Men’s Day forum on November 19 at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Regional Headquarters in Kingston. International Men’s Day is celebrated annually on November 19. This year, it is being observed under the international theme ‘Positive Male Role Models’. It focuses on men’s and boys’ health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models. Locally, this year’s observance is held under the theme ‘Reinforcing Positive Male Role Models’.
