Ministry of Labour & Social Security Partners with WFP to Bring Relief to the Elderly

Minister of Labour and Social Security, Hon. Karl Samuda (2nd left), in discussion with the Ministry’s Director for Social Security, Suzette Morris (left), during Friday’s (May 28) presentation of 11,300 food kits by the World Food Programme (WFP) to assist poor families The packages, which were presented to Minister Samuda by WFP Programme Policy Officer, Sara Netzer (2nd right), included: rice, oats, pasta, salt, cooking oil and black beans.. The packages are intended to assist in supplementing the beneficiaries’ food needs and alleviating some of the challenges resulting from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Also listening is Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Colette Roberts Risden. The presentation took place at the Central Foods Organization complex on Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston.
