The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will be providing a shuttle bus service for special guests attending the funeral of Jamaican cultural icon Louise Bennett Coverley (Miss Lou).
Miss Lou, who died on July 26 at the age 86, has been accord an official funeral service, which will be held at the Coke Methodist Church at East Parade, downtown Kingston beginning at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at National Heroes Park.
Invited quests, with specially marked cards, will be shown to designated parking areas at National Heroes Park, after which they will board the shuttles, which will be parked on the east side of the park.
The busses will then travel from East Heroes Circle to South Heroes Circle, south along East Street to East Queen Street, west along East Queen Street and come to a stop above the Esso Gas Station on Duke Street. Passengers will then disembark and walk to the church.
The route to the interment is north along Duke Street to West Heroes Circle, then on to North Heroes Circle to the East Gate, where passengers will disembark.
Meanwhile, VIP parking will be allowed at the Ward Theatre at North Parade and at the intersection of East Queen Street and East Parade.
Police personnel will be on hand to direct traffic and members of the public are being asked to adhere to the directions.
