Local Organizations, like the Jamaica Cycling Federation are pushing to make sports like cycling more accessible to all Jamaicans.
The fourth staging of the Jamaica International Cycling Classic took place two weekends ago, and the streets of Montego Bay, St. James, were packed with cyclists from more than 14 international teams from more than twenty countries. The event gave the riders the chance to earn Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) points, which would enable them to qualify for events like the Grand Tours and the Olympics and according to President of the Jamaica Cycling Federation, Dr. Wayne Palmer hosting an event of such a great magnitude is a gamechanger for local interests.
