The Government of Jamaica has accorded an official funeral to Horace Clarke, OJ, former PNP Minister of Public Utilities, Agriculture, Water and Transport, Mining and Energy. The official service, (“Mass of Resurrection”) will be held on Saturday July 24, at 11:00am at the St. Andrew Parish Church, in Kingston.
Horace Clarke who had been ailing for sometime, died on July 10 at the age of 75. Officiating Ministers at Saturday’s official service will be the Rt. Reverend Dr. Robert Thompson, Dr. Alvin Stone, Rev Monique Blake, Rev. Cheryl Phillips, Rev. Dr. Garnet Brown, Deacon Ronald Thwaites and Deacon Terrence Gillette. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Ken Baugh will represent the Prime Minister.
His body will lie in state on Thursday, July 22 between the hours of 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at the St. Mary Parish Church, Port Maria and the final service and interment will take place on Monday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Mary Parish Church, Port Maria.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding in paying tribute to Mr. Clarke, described him as a dedicated Jamaican who served his country with distinction and one who has left has left an indelible mark on the landscape of his country not only as an outstanding public servant but through his many business ventures. His latest business venture was his contribution to Jamaica’s tourism attractions in the resort of St Ann-the celebrated nature attraction, Mystic Mountain. Mr. Golding expressed condolences to his Widow, Norma, his children, family and friends.
