Chairman of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), Richard Byles (left, head of table) convenes a meeting of the FSC board and Executive Director-designate, Major Keron Burrell (right, head of table), with managers of the FSC, at the entity’s New Kingston offices on Thursday (January 26). Mr. Byles was appointed to chair the FSC’s new eight-member board effective January 23. The new Board’s responsibilities include overseeing the current interventions at Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL), including formalising Mr. Burrell’s appointment, establishing a mechanism to review the FSC’s approach to the SSL case to identify any gaps or constraints, and assessing the status of other licensees and determining whether there are concerns or potential concerns in respect of companies in the securities industry.
