The Full Story

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security is continuing to meet the need for overseas workers. The Jamaica Liaison Service in Canada has had two requests for a total of eighty (80) Hydroponics workers. The companies are Great Lakes Green House and Apollo Green House.
The Minister of Labour and Social Security, the Honourable Pearnel Charles gave an address to the thirteen (13) men, who comprise the second batch of hydroponics workers that are set to leave the island on November 12, 2008. The Minister encouraged them to endure the challenges that would come their way, as they were being given an opportunity to make better for themselves and their families.
The Minister further encouraged them to hold the Jamaican flag high and to make a name for themselves. A member of the group expressed gratitude on behalf of the men, who will be on a two year contract work programme to Canada. The first batch of hydroponics workers on two year contracts consisted of twelve (12) persons who left the island on Monday September 22, 2008.
