The Full Story

The Management Institute for National Development (MIND) will on Wednesday, June 5 and Thursday, June 6, hosts two leadership workshops at its campus at 235A Old Hope Road, Kingston 6.

The June 5 workshop dubbed ‘Power and Politics in Public Sector Organizations’ is targeted at executives within the public sector, including Chief Executive Officers, Executive Directors, Directors General, and Senior Directors.

The workshop is aimed at increasing awareness of power and politics in organisations and how to develop strategies to work more effectively. Marketing Manager at MIND, Shawnette Henry explained that the session will focus on areas such as: understanding power and politics in organisations and their legitimacy; personal strategy for using power and reputation management; sources of power, and how to develop power bases and increase collective power and influence. “The second workshop, on June 6, titled ‘Maximising Leadership Effectiveness’, is aimed at developing leaders to make sense of leadership in a practical, personal but challenging way. It will help leaders find answers to key issues such as who are leaders; what do leaders do and how they do what they do,” Miss Henry explained.

The main facilitator for these workshops is Principal Organisation Development and Learning Specialist at the Department for International Development (DFID) in the United Kingdom, Dr. Winston Sutherland. Persons, who wish to attend may contact MIND at 927-1761 or at customerservice@mind.edu.jm.
