The May Pen Infirmary in Clarendon was presented with a solar water heater and 15 bedside lockers by the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, St. Gabriel’s Anglican Church Chapter, on Sunday (December 13).
May Pen Businessman, Pat Lawrence explained that The Brotherhood of St. Andrew is a charitable organisation within the Anglican Church that has adopted the Infirmary. The water heater is valued at approximately $200,000 and the 15 bedside lockers at approximately $50,000.
“It is customary for our Chapter to visit and have service at the May Pen infirmary on a quarterly basis. At Christmas time, we come and we have a carol service and distribute gifts,” he said.
Matron of the Infirmary, Joyce Anderson said that the residents will appreciate the heater and the bedside lockers, as these items will make life for them and their caregivers much more comfortable.
“For too long they have been using cold water, so this will make a lot of difference. The lockers will also be appreciated. The residents love to have their personal effects and, with a locker at their bedside, they will be able to tuck away their personal effects which will make them feel better about themselves,” she said.
The Brotherhood of St. Andrew, St. Gabriel’s Anglican Church Chapter has 61 members.
