OD, JPThe Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) is responsible for the healthcare of Jamaicans and is focused on developing and implementing national strategies for improving health, delivering effective quality health services, setting standards and regulations, as well as carrying out essential public health functions.

To ensure the provision of quality health services and to promote healthy lifestyles and environmental practices.
Mandate
The MOHW is tasked with enhancing population health by reducing mortality, morbidity, and disability from non-communicable and communicable diseases. Its priorities include promoting safe motherhood, ensuring healthy newborns, eliminating infectious diseases, and safeguarding vulnerable populations during emergencies and disasters.
