The Full Story

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Jevene Bent, has called for unity among the country’s policing bodies.
“The confrontation, which sometimes occurs between ‘red seam’ and ‘blue seam’ police must stop now,” DCP Bent stated as she addressed the 24th annual conference of the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) yesterday (June 11) at the Runaway Bay HEART Hotel.
“Whether we are JCF (Jamaica Constabulary Force), ISCF or rural police, we are all members of one team working together to create a safe and secure environment for our people,” she stated.
DCP Bent, who represented Police Commissioner, Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin at the conference, argued that team effort “is particularly important when we face the criminals, who are more often than not united in a gang structure with fixity of purpose in their desire to gain wealth and power through illegal means.”
She commended the ISCF for the tremendous work it has been doing across the country and urged the members to continue to play their part in serving, protecting and reassuring the citizens of Jamaica.
The two-day conference, which concludes today (June 12), is being held under the theme: ‘Delivering Professional and Quality Service in a Challenging Environment.’
