Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Hon. Prince Ermias Sahle Selassie, the grandson of the late Emperor Haile Selassie, will be in the island for a week of official engagements and will attend several activities in celebration of Heritage Week, October 10 to 18. He will also meet with the nation’s leaders, including the Governor-General, the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition as well as members of the Ethiopian and Rastafari communities and the National Council on Reparations.

At right is Acting Executive Director, Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), Marjorie Leyden-Kirton. The FiWi Short Film Competition is a brainchild of the JCDC’s Drama and Theatre Arts Unit, which encourages Jamaican amateur filmmakers to examine one of five selected Jamaican proverbs and create a short film treatment, based on their interpretation. This year marks the second staging of the competition, which started in 2021.
