A cheque valued at $200,000, was presented to the Manchester Parish Council, by telecommunications provider, Digicel, on December 16, to help in the Mayor’s Christmas programme.
Regional Sales Manager with Digicel, Craig Fisher, told JIS News that the money was part of his entity’s thrust to build good relations in the Mandeville area.
“We know that there are good efforts that this money can be used for. Digicel is here to stay, and we want to ensure that we reach out to communities, and the Parish Council and the Mayor are doing a lot of that, so we are assisting, knowing fully that the people will benefit from our contribution,” Mr. Fisher said.
Accepting the donation, Mayor of Mandeville, Councillor Brenda Ramsay, said it would help to boost the social outreach efforts of the Manchester Parish Council.
“We value and are thankful for this gift. It will help us reach more children, through our children’s treats. It will also put us in a possition to work more with the indigents of the parish, as we try to do a little more for them at this time of the year,” the Mayor said.
