The Full Story

The St. Ann’s Bay Post Office has planned a number of events to mark ‘World Post Day’ which will be observed globally on October 9. Eileen Laing, Postmaster, told JIS News that a week of activities has been planned to mark the occasion commencing with a church service at the Apostolic Ark Pentecostal Church, in Brown’s Town on October 5, starting at 11:45 a.m.
On World Post Day, a customer service appreciation day will be held at the Post Office, where nurses will perform blood pressure tests and eye examinations and give talks on HIV/AIDS. Officers from the St. Ann Fire Department will also be on hand to give fire safety talks, “while customers will be entertained by cultural items and music, and refreshments served,” the Post Master said.
She pointed out that during the week, which culminates on October 11, emphasis would be placed on marketing the PayMaster, Money Gram and Priority Mail facilities and members of the public will be able to purchase phone cards and daily newspapers at the post office.
Miss Laing said that other post offices in the region, including Alexandria, Brown’s Town, Discovery Bay, Runaway Bay, Bamboo, Claremont and Cave Valley in St. Ann and Duncans, Jackson Town, Stewart Town, Ulster Spring, Duanvale and Rio Bueno in Trelawny would be organizing similar activities to mark the occasion. The public is invited to attend these events.
