The Full Story

Travellers looking for an exciting and relaxing getaway were attracted to the Jamaican booth, showcasing the more than 150 tourist attractions one can experience during an island vacation, at the second annual Recreation and Travel Expo, held recently at the Miami Beach Convention Centre, in the United States.
The two-day exhibition attracted scores of visitors to nearly 100 booths highlighting information for travel ideas, including cruise and air travel to worldwide destinations, as well as accommodations and tour attractions.
Hosted by NBC-Channel 6 Television, the event was intended to promote tourist interests globally.
The Jamaican experience was exhibited jointly by the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) and Air Jamaica Limited, with information of the island’s many attractions.
As visitors are now searching for even more affordable holiday packages, the Jamaican booth seemed attractive with those cost effective all-in-one packages, offering both airline and accommodation deals, according to the JTB’s Account Executive, Ruby Henry.
A variety of Jamaican dishes had visitors sampling and craving more, as Jamaican chef, Marvelous Marvin, prepared samplings of jerk and curried chicken, fish and rice and peas and other island favourites, sponsored by Jamaican Jerk Festival, USA, Incorporated.
The culinary stage was an added feature – ‘Taste of the World’ – where international cuisines were prepared, as part of the two-day activity to promote tourism.
