The Full Story

This evening the Most Honourable Prime Minister announced a total lockdown of the parish of Saint Catherine beginning tomorrow Wednesday April 15, 2020 at 5:00 AM and continuing for the next seven (7) days. Tax Administration Jamaica is advising that as a result all Tax Offices in St. Catherine will be closed with immediate effect for a period of seven (7) days.

Specifically, Tax Offices at the following locations will therefore remain closed for the
period:-
– Linstead
– Old Harbour
– Portmore
– Spanish Town

The measure forms part of the Government’s response strategies to the growing Covid19 pandemic in Jamaica and in particular, to the significant increase in confirmed cases in that parish.

Further, the lockdown is expected to impact the delivery of service at Tax and Business Offices in Kingston, St. Andrew, Clarendon and Manchester as several members of staff reside in St. Catherine and will be impacted by this new measure.

After careful consideration the Cross Roads Tax Office will be closed during the period of the lockdown and staff from that location will be temporarily assigned to the Kingston or St. Andrew Revenue Service Centres, to provide additional staff support at those locations. Taxpayers who would ordinarily visit the Cross Roads Tax Office are
asked to use either our Kingston or St. Andrew Revenue Service Centres.

We are aware that these office closures and the reduced staff complement may cause some delays and inconvenience and that is deeply regretted. We ask for your co-operation and understanding in following the directives of the Government. Such measures, though seemingly severe, are intended to slow and contain the spread of COVID-19 and safeguard the safety and health of Staff and the general public.

We take this opportunity to remind customers that several services may be accessed online at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm, such as paying Property Tax, Certificate of Fitness Fees and Traffic Ticket. Additionally, application of Tax Compliance Certificate will only be accepted online.
