Shelters Open in Kingston and St. Catherine

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) has activated several of its emergency shelters in Kingston and St. Catherine as the torrential rains associated with Tropical Storm Nicole continue to lash the island.
Senior Director for Mitigation, Planning and Research, Michelle Edwards, told JIS News that in Kingston, shelters have been opened at the Langston Terrace Community Centre; Holy Rosary Primary School; and Dunoon Technical High school.
In St. Catherine, the centres are located at Shiloah Basic School in Lauriston; Ensom City Primary School; Old Harbour High; Faith’s Fire House in Thompson Pen; Bog Walk High School; and Spanish Town Primary.
