Senator Aundre Franklin Leads Health Delegation to Cuba

A five-member delegation from the Ministry of Health & Environment, headed by Senator Aundre Franklin, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry, is currently in Cuba participating in the fifth session of the Jamaica/Cuba Intergovernmental Joint Commission meeting.
The group which departed the island on June 8, 2008 will over its two-day sojourn in Havana participate in health cooperation talks initiated by the Hon. Prime Minister Bruce Golding during his visit to Cuba May 3-6, 2008. Among the areas of partnership to be reviewed and pursued at the meeting are cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals and ophthalmology.
The members of the health team are Senator Aundre Franklin, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Health & Environment; Dr. Grace Allen-Young, Permanent Secretary; Dr. Yasmin Williams, Director of the Health Services Support and Monitoring; Mrs. Olive Wilson-Cross, Director of Project Planning and Implementation and Mrs. Vivia Betton, Director of Cooperation in Health.
The Jamaican delegation is led by the Hon. Dr. Kenneth Baugh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.
The team will return on June 11, 2008.
