Cabinet has given its approval for a $15.8 million contract to be awarded to Ranger Protection and Security Services, for the provision of security services at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston.
< Minister of Information and Development, Hon. Donald Buchanan, made the announcement at yesterday's (November 13), post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House. "The Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts requires security guard services at its current location, comprising unarmed and armed guards and canine services," the Minister informed. The institution, he noted, currently housed several pieces of expensive and high value equipment, machines and other assets and provided hostel facilities for some 90 students. On another matter, a $37.3 million contract has been awarded to Alpha Security Services Limited, to provide security services to various National Water Commission (NWC) facilities across the island. The Minister informed that the contract is for the provision of armed and unarmed services at NWC's facilities in zones two and three, and designated areas in Clarendon, Hanover and Westmoreland. Zones two and three comprise NWC sites in the Corporate Area. In the meantime, a contract was also awarded to Atlas Security Services Limited in the sum of $18.4 million, to provide 24-hour security services at the Registrar General's Department (RGD). "This contract has provision for security services at several locations of the RGD. and the contract is for a two-year period," he said.
