Rural Water Supply Limited has been contracted to provide consultancy services and technical expertise to the National Water Commission (NWC), under its Tank and Pump Operational Efficiency Programme.

This was announced by Minister with Responsibility for Information, Senator the Hon. Sandrea Falconer, at a Jamaica House press briefing, on November 26.

The entity has been awarded a $55.6 million contract to undertake activities that are expected to result in the improved energy and operational efficiency of the NWC, as it seeks to boost potable water supplies in rural communities.

“The project involves assessment of NWC potable water storage tanks; identifying problems and shortfalls of existing facilities; the identification of demand centres, and changing the location of storage tanks, among other things,” the Minister informed.

The Rural Water Supply Limited designs and constructs water supply systems which, when completed, are handed over to the NWC, local authorities, community organisations or private sector entities.
