The Full Story

Hundreds of residents from Darliston and adjoining communities in Westmoreland benefitted from a Health Fair, staged by T’s Pharmacy on December 19.

The event formed part of Christmas activities in the Darliston community hosted by a number of private sector companies.

The residents who were treated to free blood pressure and other checks, were provided with information by Pharmacist, Mrs. Vanessa Cole, on how to take better care of themselves in order to prevent certain lifestyle diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension.

In addition, the patrons were treated to refreshments, which included sorrel drink, fruit punch and sandwiches.

Chief Executive Officer of T’s Pharmacy, Judith Townsend, said the health fair/customer appreciation day was part of events aimed at thanking the citizens for their support.

Ms. Townsend used the event to launch her vision of going green in 2015, by providing each patron with an environment friendly bag to be used when shopping.

“This annual event is something that the residents look forward to, especially as the Christmas season draws closer. This is a growing community and the senior citizens really appreciate the free health checks,” she said.

Ms. Townsend noted that a number of companies continue to support the  effort to reach out to the citizens of communities, such as Chilton, Hopewell, Holly Hill, Caledonia, Beaufort, Orange Hill and Lennox Bigwoods.
