Since the start of the year, 26 people have been charged for Praedial Larceny, while over the last decade, there has been on average 40 to 50 reports annually made to the police of agricultural produce theft.
However, the police say, this is not a true reflection of the number of cases, as only a few victims make reports when their crops or livestock are stolen.
To reduce this, the Agriculture Ministry through the Praedial Larceny Prevention Coordination Unit has been fighting tooth and nail, providing strategies to help farmers secure their property.
