Doing business in Jamaica almost always requires some form of national identification. Accepted forms of ID include your driver’s license, passport or Voter’s ID card. Some entities may even require two forms of ID which may pose a challenge since aside from your passport, not all currently accepted forms of ID are readily available to everyone.
The National Identification System (NIDS) is aiming to solve this problem as it will be a reliable and secure way of verifying an individual’s identity. The NIDS project is now in the final phases of implementation with a pilot set to be rolled out in Kingston later this year
