Decades before Kenyan Independence in December 1963, the words of Jamaican Marcus Garvey, were being carried throughout the country. From the river beaches of Kisumu to the forests of Nairobi, nationalists devoted themselves to the influential teachings of Garvey and other voices in the pan-Africanism movement. This would later prove crucial in the campaign for Independence from Britain. President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta visited the island on Monday to engage in discussions with Prime Minister Andrew Holness during a three-day state visit.
