Childcare & Protection: Our Duty of Care Pt.2

Since 2004, the Child Care and Protection Act has been the main legislation providing the legal framework for the protection and care of Jamaican children.  The Act recognizes three fundamental categories of children’s rights: Protection Rights, which shield children from abuse, violence, neglect, and exploitation; Provision Rights, which speaks to the basic things children need for survival, growth and development; and Participation Rights, which ensures children’s views are considered when making decisions.
