Even after years of observing Boxing Day, we still do not fully understand what the observance is all about.For many of us, it’s just an extension of Christmas and a time to relax or have fun.Contrary to what many may believe, Boxing Day has nothing to do with fist fights.Though it remains unclear as to how it began or how it is traditionally celebrated, it is a bonafide public holiday not only in Jamaica, but several other countries in the Commonwealth and Europe

As part of efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change, several upgrades have been implemented on the island’s hyrdometerological network over the last few years. This includes the introduction of the Rio Cobre Early Warning System (RCEWS) in Bog Walk, St. Catherine.

Modern movies are centred on telling the stories of people living in various parts of the world. However, Caribbean culture, and Jamaican culture in particular, has largely remained uncharted waters for filmmakers. Getting more films on screen will require local creatives to be trained in the various film making skill sets. It was for that reason that the Jamaica Film and Television Association JAFTA was established.
