The Full Story

Over 60 members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) were presented with certificates at the Chinese International Restaurant, Mandeville, Manchester on Friday (May 15), following a 2-week training course in driving and maintenance.
Woman Constable Shannion Duncan, who gave the valediction, said that the training would help them in enforcing the road code, and to be better drivers.
“It is going to help us to take better care of the service vehicles assigned to us, and to get motorists to comply with rules that we must obey while driving on the roads,” Miss Duncan stated.
Guest speaker and President of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Winston Lawson, urged the graduates to use their new skills in community policing.
“We express our commendations to all of the members who have earned themselves the responsibility to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the police force. The Chamber encourages you to carry out those functions effectively and cautiously,” Mr. Lawson said.
The 60 officers are deployed in Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth.
