KINGSTON — Prime Minister, the Hon. Bruce Golding, is schedule to deliver the keynote address at the formal media launch of activities to commemorate Jamaica's Independence Golden Jubilee, on Thursday (October 20) on the lawns of Jamaica House, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Speaking at today's post-Cabinet media briefing at Jamaica House, Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz, informed that the year-long activities marking Jamaica’s 50th anniversary of Independence, are scheduled to get underway on January 1, 2012 and run through to December 31, 2012.

He said Cabinet received a report of the work undertaken to date by the National Planning Committee, which outlines the mission statement; categories of events to be undertaken; core activities scheduled for each month; private/public sector partnerships already established, and those being pursued; as well as legacy projects to be executed.

Mr. Vaz said Cabinet is to be further updated on the progress for each of the activities being undertaken.
