Prime Minister Bruce Golding will pay an official visit to Bogota, Colombia, from August 6-9, to participate in a number of activities including the official swearing-in of the newly elected Colombian President Dr Juan Manuel Santos.
PM Golding will have a busy first day, starting with a meeting with Jamaicans living in Colombia after which he will hold bilateral talks with outgoing President, Dr. Alvaro Uribe Velez. On Saturday afternoon (August 7) Prime Minister Golding, along with heads of state and Government officials from a number of Latin America and Caribbean countries, will attend the official swearing-in ceremony for Dr Juan Manuel Santos.
On Sunday (August 8) Mr. Golding will hold bilateral talks with the new President before returning to the island on Monday (August 9). During Mr. Golding’s absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign trade, Dr. Ken Baugh, will be in charge of the government.
