Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Pearnel Charles Jr., brings remarks at the seventh annual Ueshima Coffee Company (UCC) Quality Cup contest at the Craighton Estate in Irish Town, St. Andrew, on April 20. UCC is the largest buyer of Jamaican coffee and was one of the first Japanese companies to directly take Jamaican coffee into Japan.

The event, which was won by the Woodford community, was held at the Craighton Estate in Irish Town, St. Ann, on April 20. UCC stages the contests in its coffee-producing countries in an effort to enhance the quality of the coffee produced in each country, raise the standard of living of the producers and to ensure the stable supply of coffee. Producers submit their highest quality coffee and vie for the highest ranking.
