Leader of the Opposition and Member of Parliament for St. Andrew Southern, Mark Golding (second right), receives the first four of 200 drums that will be distributed in the communities of Allman Town and Jones Town in Kingston, at the Jones Town Primary School, on July 6. The initiative is to encourage citizens to properly dispose of their waste to help reduce mosquito breeding sites and reduce the spread of diseases. The distribution is a part of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) ‘Drum a Di Gate’ initiative. Some 200 drums will be supplied by Hardware and Lumber per month for a year. Sharing the moment (from left) are Executive Director of NSWMA, Audley Gordon; Director of Operations, NSWMA, Aretha McFarlane and Councillor for the Jones Town Division, Louise Newland.
