The Full Story

The 2025 sitting of the Grade Six Primary Exit Profile exams is scheduled to commence on Thursday, February 20, with the administration of the Ability Test component.

This test will measure the students’ ability to engage in verbal and quantitative reasoning.

It will be followed by the Performance Task, which consists of two components – Language Arts and Mathematics – to be administered on Wednesday, March 19 and Thursday, March 20, respectively.

The Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information in a recent bulletin explained that the Performance Task is curriculum-based and assesses students’ grasp of concepts, principles and procedures based on content in Language Arts and Mathematics. Curriculum-based Tests in Language Arts, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies will also be administered to assess students’ knowledge and understanding of content in the National Standards Curriculum (NSC) at the Grade Six level.

Students will sit Language Arts and Science on Wednesday, April 30 and Mathematics and Social Studies on Thursday, May 1.

School administrators have been advised that where possible, schools should remain open during the administration of the Grade Six PEP examinations.

Only under adverse conditions should closure be considered.

For schools that are closed to the general student population during the examination period, alternative mechanisms, such as online modality, should be implemented to ensure teaching and learning are not disrupted.

PEP consists of a series of assessments that help determine the preparedness of students for secondary school.
