Over 26,000 Residents to Benefit from $1.3-Billion Ferry to Rock Pond Water Project

Residents of Red Hills and its environs are set to benefit from significantly improved water supply through the implementation of the $1.3-billion Ferry to Rock Pond project.

As part of this major investment, two 50,000-gallon water tanks will be constructed to serve as lifting stations.

“These facilities will significantly strengthen the water distribution system and are expected to benefit more than 26,000 residents in areas such as Belvedere, Sterling Castle, and Rock Pond, to name a few,” said Member of Parliament for St. Andrew West Rural, Hon. Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn.

She was opening the 2026/2027 Constituency debate in the House of Representatives on Tuesday (September 22).

Mrs. Cuthbert-Flynn also informed that a new water project is coming for Essex Hall.

“This project is scheduled for approval in October, and the work will start six months after. This is another important step in improving access to reliable water for our residents and ensuring that communities across West Rural can benefit from the developments taking place in our constituency,” she told the House.

The Member of Parliament appealed to persons to become regularised customers of the National Water Commission (NWC) to ensure access to quality water infrastructure and services.

“Building pipelines, treating water and maintaining the infrastructure that delivers water to our homes cost money. We cannot demand reliable water service and refuse to pay for it. We must understand that development comes with responsibility,” Mrs. Cuthbert-Flynn said.
