Omar Frith Appointed SDC Executive Director

Omar Frith has been appointed Executive Director of the Social Development Commission (SDC).

His appointment, effective January 28, follows the departure of Dr. Dwayne Vernon, who demitted office on January 27 after serving the SDC for more than two decades, including 13 years at the helm.

Mr. Frith previously served as the SDC’s Deputy Executive Director for eight years, during which he spearheaded the Strategic Planning and Communications portfolios.

In his new role, Mr. Frith, who has extensive experience in corporate governance and government operations, is expected to guide the SDC into a new chapter of growth and transformation.

The new Executive Director is an accomplished professional with more than 20 years’ experience in social and community development, strategic management and leadership.

His contribution to the public sector spans various leadership roles. These include Early Childhood Commission (ECC) Board Commissioner and e-Learning Jamaica Company Limited Board Director.

Mr. Frith currently serves as Culture, Health, Arts, Sports and Education (CHASE) Fund Chairman and Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) Board Director.

This consummate professional has also served as General Manager of the Stella Maris Foundation, where he played a pivotal role in driving transformative community development projects.

In extending congratulations, SDC Board Chairman, Hidran McKulsky, expressed confidence in Mr. Frith’s ability to lead the agency.

“We are confident that, given Mr. Frith’s exceptional leadership skills, strategic vision and unwavering commitment to excellence, as well as his expertise and passion, he will drive the SDC to even greater heights and deliver on its mandate of empowering communities across Jamaica,” he said.

Mr. McKulsky also thanked Dr. Vernon for his invaluable service to the SDC.
