The Full Story

The 24 boys housed at the Mount Olivet Boys’ Home in Walderston, Manchester, will be treated to a special movie at the Odeon Cinema in Mandeville, on Saturday, May 22, courtesy of the Palace Amusement Company.
Marketing Manager at Palace Amusement, Melanie Graham, told JIS News that contributions of this nature are nothing new to the organization.
“Palace Amusement decided to make this contribution because we thought it was a worthy cause and we make donations [like this] to schools and other institutions that we think are in need of support,” she added.
She encouraged the boys at Mount Olivet and children islandwide not to give up. “Once given an opportunity, you should grasp it with both hands,” she said.
Meanwhile, Acting Director of the Mount Olivet Boys’ Home, Rudolph Brown, is lauding the efforts of the JIS and Palace Amusement in this endeavour.
“I am very grateful for the effort by the JIS to make living more enjoyable to the residents and I appreciate wholeheartedly that Palace Amusement is thinking of youngsters like these,” Mr. Brown said.
With Child Month being celebrated under the theme, ‘All I want is a chance to grow up’, this movie treat is even more special for the Home that has been adopted by the JIS since December 2009. The JIS has commenced a mentorship progamme at the Home, aimed at creating a positive influence in the lives of the boys.
