The Full Story

The Management Institute for National Development (MIND) continues its commitment to advancing transformation and modernisation in the public sector, through the upcoming Regional Public Sector Leadership Development Conference, scheduled for July 9 to 12, 2024.

Themed: ‘Sustaining Public Sector Transformation through Leadership for Service Excellence’, the annual conference builds on the Government of Jamaica’s Service Excellence Policy introduced in 2022.

According to Senior Manager for Leadership Development at MIND and Conference Coordinator, Georgia Sinclair, this year’s event aims to maintain momentum in enhancing public service.

Mrs. Sinclair was speaking at a Jamaica Information Service (JIS) Think Tank, today (June 27).

The conference begins with an all-day pre-conference virtual workshop titled, ‘The Emotionally Effective Leader’, on July 9, led by Dr. Ruby Brown, Chief Executive Officer of MIND.

This session promises to provide insights and discussions on effective leadership strategies.

Outlining the schedule over the next two days, Mrs. Sinclair informed that the conference moves to The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston from July 10 to 11 for in-person sessions.

Keynote speaker Mac Kroupensky from Mexico, known for transformative leadership insights, will be joined by distinguished speakers such as James Clemens and Dr. Ingrid Ritcher from Canada.

They will share expertise in executive leadership development, organisational culture change, and navigating complex transformations in the public service.

Ambassador Joan Underwood from Barbados, a renowned Talent Development Specialist, will focus on people engagement and its critical role in organisational success.

Panel discussions will explore cutting-edge topics, including artificial intelligence and leveraging technology for efficient public service delivery.

The conference concludes on July 12 with a virtual post-conference workshop, led by Dr. Traci Harrell from the United States.

Dr. Harrell, a trainer consultant and mindset expert, will delve into ‘Positive Intelligence’, providing tools for leveraging positivity in leadership.

“This expanded programme aims to equip attendees with innovative strategies to redefine public service excellence across the region,” said Mrs. Sinclair.
