“Melia hotels understand that they cannot exist in a vacuum. Melia understands that to be an innovator and pioneer and leader, they must respect, adopt, follow and include in their everyday life, local customs, tradition and the right of every Jamaican to be employed, prosper and develop. As a matter of fact, I consider it my solemn duty to assure that we optimize the Jamaican labour force,” Mr. Kosvogiannis said.

He stated that Melia Braco Village will be the first Spanish project in the tourism industry that will be completed and executed entirely by Jamaican firms.

He said the fact that Melia has taken that position should serve as the bench mark for other foreign investors to follow and give Jamaican professionals at all levels, a fair opportunity to take advantage of the job opportunities which will become available.
