Jamaica’s Airports Remain Open

The Government of Jamaica has imposed a State of Emergency, limited to Kingston and St. Andrew, where the security forces are conducting an operation to serve an arrest warrant on Michael Christopher Coke.
Since this activity is confined to a small section of the country, the island’s two international airports remain open. Arrangements have been made for all critical personnel at the airports to be in place.
Jamaica’s tourist towns of Negril, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Port Antonio are no way impacted by the activities in Kingston and remain safe.
Events such as the ICAN 2010 Conference scheduled for Montego Bay will take place as planned. It should be noted that Montego Bay is on the island’s popular North Coast and is approximately four hours away from Kingston by car.
