The Office of the Prime Minister announces the appointment of Mr. Huntley Medley as Director of Communication and Public Affairs.

The Director of Communication and Public Affairs is part of a new Communications structure and has overall responsibility for the management of the operations of the Communication and Public Affairs Division of the Office of the Prime Minister which comprises the following functions: News and Public Affairs; Media Monitoring and Research; Website and Social Media; and Public Relations, Special Projects and Community Outreach.

The Director of Communication and Public Affairs will work closely with the Minister with Responsibility for Information to implement Government’s Communications Policy across Ministries, Agencies and Departments as the administration moves to bring particular focus to maintaining and improving the flow of Government information to the public, facilitating public feedback as well as further developing the media and stakeholder relations of the Office of the Prime Minister and the Government.

Mr. Medley is a journalist and public information management practitioner with 30 years’ experience in media and has worked in the field of communication and public relations for 25 years.

He previously served the Office of the Prime Minister in the capacities of Project Manager for the Western Regional Office in Montego Bay, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister and Communication Consultant. His public service includes previous assignments as Chief Executive Officer of the Jamaica Information Service and Advisor/Consultant in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the Ministry of Youth and Culture. He has provided international service as Information Attaché at the Jamaican High Commission in London and as Public Relations Consultant to the Secretary General of the Caribbean Community based in Georgetown, Guyana.

A graduate  of  the  University of  Westminster (London), University of the West Indies (Mona), Montego Bay Community College and Cornwall College, Mr. Medley has a master’s degree in Development Studies, an undergraduate degree in Caribbean History and Government as well as certification in Customer Relations and Corporate Governance in the Public Sector.

The father of two sons, Mr. Medley currently serves as a member of the Board of Governors of the National Family Planning Board.
