The Full Story

Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Fenton Ferguson, has commended former Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister, with responsibility for Primary Health Care Infrastructure, Hon. Luther Buchanan, for the invaluable work he accomplished, since he was assigned that duty last January.

“Over the last nine months he visited over 40 health centres across the island,” Dr. Ferguson said.

He was addressing the official opening and handing over ceremony of the upgraded Williamsfield Health Centre in Westmoreland, on October 3.

Mr. Buchanan was re-assigned the portfolio of Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture on October 6. He will assist the new Minister, Hon. Derrick Kellier, who acted since the death of the late Minister, Hon. Roger Clarke, on August 28.

Dr. Ferguson said that Mr. Buchanan had effectively dealt with matters relating to the Ministry.

Emphasising that primary health care will be given priority, the Minister urged citizens to take care of the centre, which has been made available to them through funding from the National Health Fund (NHF).

The health centre has been extensively refurbished and expanded and will now be more equipped to offer the most modern health services to citizens in Williamsfield and adjoining communities.
