Overview

The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport (MCGES) is a key arm of the Government of Jamaica responsible for developing and implementing national policies and programmes across culture, gender affairs, entertainment and sport. It preserves and promotes Jamaica’s cultural heritage and supports creative industries and the entertainment sector by strengthening the framework for cultural practitioners. Additionally, it leads national sports development through regulatory bodies such as the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission and the Sports Development Foundation.

Mandate

The Ministry is responsible for safeguarding cultural expressions, fostering innovation and growth within the creative economy, promoting gender quality, while encouraging fairness and development in sports.
