The National Council on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NCTVET), welcomes all visitors to the National Qualifications Register (NQR), the central database of information on qualifications, training, assessment and certification relevant to facilitators, learners, employers and other key stakeholders in the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system in Jamaica .
The competitive forces of the global economy including rapid technological advances have compelled many economies including Jamaica to emphasize the need for a highly skilled and qualified workforce, certified to international standards. It is imperative therefore that we find flexible methods of assessing and certifying our workforce to meet the required standards.
NCTVET’s mission and work respond to this challenge. As the Quality Manager, it has overall responsibility for developing competency standards, assessment and qualification guidelines, certifying assessors, accrediting training organizations and issuing the National Vocational Qualifications of Jamaica (NVQ-J) to individuals who have demonstrated the required competencies in the various occupational areas.
