Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen has encouraged Jamaicans to support the advancement of employers, as “they continue to provide employment and be the engine of growth for the economy.”
He also called on persons to support activities for ‘National Employers’ Month’ (September), for which he read a Proclamation today (August 29), at King’s House.
“It is with pleasure that I hand you the document declaring the month of September as Employers Month and I trust that the awareness that it will bring and the support for the Federation will be enough to meet your expectations,” the Governor- General told members of the Jamaica Employers Federation (JEF).
National Employers’ Month is dedicated to highlighting the role of employers to the development of the country’s economy as well as recognising and awarding excellence among employees of member organisations.

In his remarks, President of the JEF, Wayne Chen said the organisation aims to provide quality jobs for the vast majority of Jamaicans.
“To this end, we work very closely with employers to ensure that the relationship between the employer and employee is a high quality relationship that works to achieve the personal goals of both. We want to see every Jamaican being the master of their own faith and destiny and that they would have quality employment to achieve their economic goals,” Mr. Chen said.
He noted that the activities for the month are aimed at raising public consciousness about the work of the JEF.
Some of the events during the month include a public forum, an evening of excellence and a Chief Executive Officers breakfast. Members will also be making courtesy calls on Prime Minister, the Hon. Bruce Golding and the Leader of the Opposition, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller. There will also be a tour of the JEF offices and a members’ forum, where topical issues beneficial to the organisation’s growth, will be discussed.
