Former Olympian, Byron LaBeach, an alternate member of Jamaica’s 4x400m relay team, that won gold at the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games, is to donate a catalogue of his personal photographs to the National Library of Jamaica (NLJ).
The disclosure was made by Valerie Francis, Head of Acquisitions at the NLJ, in an interview with JIS News.
“It is priceless for the NLJ to receive these photos from Mr. LaBeach. To just know that he is coming to make this presentation, it is a great pleasure to do this, and it is something that we are really looking forward to,” Ms. Francis said.
“Because of who he is and because of this period of the whole euphoria with the Olympics, this has added some amount of excitement at the NLJ,” she added.
The hand over of the photographs will take place at the National Library at 12 East Street, Kingston, on September 15, at 10:00 a.m.
