The Ministry of Education, Youth and Information is inviting the participation of all relevant stakeholders in staging a National Day of Prayer on Friday, November 11, at all levels of the education system.

Portfolio Minister, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid, says early-childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary-level institutions should hold a morning devotion between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., and in the afternoon from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. for schools on the shift system.

In an address at a post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House, yesterday (November 9), the Minister said the focus will be on praying for peace in the education system and for the protection of children, teachers and administrative and support staff.

Senator Reid is inviting chaplains and churches in and around the school communities to participate in the activity.

The Minister said a special prayer will be prepared and sent to the media for reading and for publication on the day.

“We are asking for the support of all stakeholders, particularly parents and the community,” he said, adding that participants should wear blue in support of the theme of the activities.
