Cabinet has approved the establishment of a Judicial Education Institute under the Office of the Chief Justice.
Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid, announced the move, which complements the push by the Government to improve the justice system and the operations of the country’s courts.
The Minister was speaking at a post-Cabinet press briefing, held today (November 9), at the Office of the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, Senator Reid used the occasion to announce the approval of several projects being pursued by the Government, including the acquisition of 76 parcels of land with an estimated area of 16,218 square metres between Red Hills Road and Norbrook Drive in St. Andrew.
This is for the Constant Spring Road Improvement Project, under the Major Infrastructure Development Programme (MIDP).
The Minister said Cabinet also approved the terms negotiated with Supreme Ventures Limited for the privatisation of Caymanas Track Limited (CTL) and the payment of redundancy-related costs from the Consolidated Fund.
